Novotel Nha Trang held Charity Bazaar to support HIV/AIDS affected children

(#wanderlusttips #Novotelnhatrang) Novotel Nha Trang Hotel has successfully organized 2-day charity bazaar to raise funds for children who have been affected by HIV/AIDS in Vietnam.

From June 9, 2016, the hotel launched a program to collect unwanted items from guests and hotel staff. The items including clothes, accessories, children toys and many other things were sold in the Charity Bazaar’s booths on June 13-14, 2016.

Beside the booths, there were a donation box, food court and massage service were also set up for the event.

The Charity Bazaar helps raising VND10,395,000 in total in which VND7,040,000 came from selling items and the rest from donations.

The money raised from this event will be sent to Smile Group, a non-profit organization which aims to bring smiles to HIV/AIDS affected children in Vietnam.

Airbnb raised 1 billion USD to finance its expanding plan

Airbnb is currently valued at $25.5 billion after a $1.5 billion funding round a year ago. The company is currently working to become a more full-service travel company, creating add-on travel services in hopes to grow beyond home-sharing.

Vacation rental website Airbnb Inc. wants to own more of people’s travel experiences. The company has been testing a service for tourists to book add-on services, said Airbnb Chief Executive Officer Brian Chesky.

Tests have included meals prepared by personal chefs, restaurant reservations, art gallery tours, and bicycle rentals, according to people familiar with the trial. Customers will be able to book the services when they reserve a room or home rental on Airbnb, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans are private. The company expects to introduce the feature this year, said one of the people.

Airbnb refers to the project internally as “magical trips,” a person familiar with the matter said. The name evokes Walt Disney, one of Chesky’s idols. Chesky is overseeing the initiative, along with Joe Zadeh, the vice president of product, and it’s one of the company’s top priorities for the year, the person said.

So far, Airbnb doesn’t offer any other add-on travel services, but does provide Guidebooks, which are guides to select cities created by Airbnb hosts.

Glow worms dazzle New Zealand’s cave

Photographer Shaun Jeffers dedicated an entire year capturing these glow worms. Spending eight hours at a time in the caves, he said the illumination looks as vibrant in real life as what you can see in the photos.

EgyptAir Flight 804’s wreckage found

Images taken of the wreckage were provided to an Egyptian investigative committee, the Civil Aviation Ministry said Wednesday.

Wreckage was found in several places. The ministry did not specify the size or the location of the parts that were found.

The Egyptian investigation committee said that the vessel John Lethbridge, which was contracted by the Egyptian government to join the search for the plane debris and flight data recorders, “had identified several main locations of the wreckage.” It added that it obtained images of the wreckage located between the Greek island of Crete and the Egyptian coast, according to AP. The 75-meter long survey vessel is equipped with sonar and other equipment capable of detecting wreckage at depths up to 1,830 meters. The next step, the committee said, will be drawing a map showing the wreckage location.

The Airbus A320, which had 66 people aboard, crashed in the Mediterranean on May 19 on a flight from Paris to Cairo. Since then, authorities have been searching for wreckage and the plane’s flight data and cockpit voice recorders, which could reveal evidence about what caused the crash.

Two weeks ago, a French naval vessel La Place detected underwater signals from one of EgyptAir Flight 804’s so-called black boxes, investigators said.

Data recorders have been fixtures on commercial flights around the world for decades.

The flight data recorder gathers 25 hours of technical data from the airplane’s sensors, recording several thousand distinct pieces of information. Among the details investigators could uncover: information about the plane’s air speed, altitude, engine performance and wing positions.

The cockpit voice recorder captures sounds on the flight deck that can include conversations between pilots, warning alarms from the aircraft and background noise. By listening to the ambient sounds in a cockpit before a crash, experts can determine if a stall took place and estimate the speed at which the plane was traveling.

Once they’re found, the black boxes will be brought to Egypt, a civil aviation ministry official told CNN. That’s standard procedure, the official said, similar to what happened in November with the recorders from Metrojet Flight 9268, which crashed in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

But black boxes aren’t perfect. In several cases — such as the 1996 crash of TWA Flight 800 or the crash of American Airlines Flight 77 on September 11, 2001 — authorities had hoped to find clues in the recorders only to discover that the data inside had been damaged or the recordings had stopped suddenly.

10 college scholarships to mark 10th Anniversary of The Nam Hai

The venture builds on initiatives developed by its groundbreaking charity fund, Sympathetic Hearts, which has provided university education aid to 50 area youngsters living in hardship since launching in 2009.

The process for selecting the next batch of beneficiaries begins in July, when highschool graduates in Quang Nam Province take an enrollment test devised by the Ministry of Education. The 10 picked will be notified of their achievement in November.
