L.A. often refers to the biggest city in California, Los Angeles. It is also the second-largest city in the United States.

The city is popular for its ethnic and cultural diversity, and most of all, the Hollywood film industry and smaller metropolitan “cities”. Let’s explore these exciting, and unique small “cities” that have developed through the glamourous ages of LA.

Grand Central Market – Broadway Street

The market is Los Angeles’s famed food hall and is often at the top of the list of exciting things to do in Los Angeles. It’s a terrific place to stop and experience some of the greatest food in the city after a hectic morning of touring in Hollywood.

The beauty of this crowded food market is that there’s something for everyone within. Grand Central Market is the place to go if you want tacos, BBQ, dim food, or Italian meatballs.

Beverley Hills 

Beverley Hills is home to some of the city’s swankiest boutiques, making it the shopping mecca of California. Whether you enjoy window shopping or are looking for a large purchase, a stroll down Rodeo Drive and the Beverley Hills boulevards is a wonderful delight.

You won’t simply find clothing boutiques here; local fruit, books, homewares, wine, and beauty products are all available.

Pacific Park – Santa Monica

One of Los Angeles’s most popular attractions is Pacific Park, which is located on the Santa Monica Pier. This theme park has everything you need for a thrilling afternoon, including roller coasters and adrenaline-pumping thrills.

The park is home to the world’s only solar-powered Ferris wheel, which lifts visitors 130 feet in the air and provides unrivaled views of the Los Angeles coastline.

Visit one of LA’s Museums

There are various fantastic museums in Los Angeles, and at least one should be included on any trip to the city. One of the best in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, which houses a huge collection of modernist masterpieces.

The Getty Center has excellent impressionist collections and fantastic ocean views, so it’s worth a visit if you’re looking for something a little different.

Venice Beach – The neighborhood city of Los Angeles

If Hollywood glitz and glamour aren’t your styles, head to Venice Beach for a more bohemian vibe. The Venice Beach boardwalk is an oceanfront promenade with live music, magicians, skaters, restaurants, and stores.

This is the ideal site to visit as an antidote to the hustle and bustle of LA city life while still taking in the breathtaking ocean views.

Griffith Park – Santa Monica

One of the best aspects of Los Angeles is the city’s proximity to some stunning natural areas. Griffith Park, with its more than 4,000 acres of urban wildness, is a welcome respite from the city’s rush and bustle.

Visit the Griffith Observatory (yes, that’s the location from the film La La Land) or the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Garden for a hike along with one of the many walking trails. A trip to Griffith Park, no matter which option you choose, is a breath of fresh air on any Los Angeles agenda.

Chinatown and Koreatown – Downtown Los Angeles

The two towns are the perfect representation of oriental cultures in Los Angeles. While Chinatown has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine and handmade products, Koreatown offers a significant collection of nightclubs and bars, ideal for a night out or two.
