In 2022, as a quick respondent to the fact that tourism is returning to the previous state before the pandemic, Uber released its newest extension to the mobile app: Uber Explore. Present itself as a “tab” in the Uber App, Uber Explore will, according to Uber, recommend destinations in categories such as food and drink, art and culture, nightlife, music and shows, and more will be populated based on a user’s previous use of Uber and Uber Eats. Riders will be able to easily book a ride by using the app’s “ride there now” feature. For the time being, some restaurants and bars would provide 15% off rides, up to $10.

A necessary change

This is Uber’s effort to keep their customers’ engagement by browsing the app to plan out travel plans without existing their apps. Respectively, as the markets are becoming tighter day by day, it is inevitable that creativeness and expansion are needed to come into play for Uber.

Even though Uber is diversifying its revenue streams, with delivery and freight expanding 78 percent and 245 percent, respectively, since Q4 2020, the ride-hailing industry remains the company’s cash cow. And, despite great revenue growth last year, Uber is still not profitable, and will likely experiment with new ways to drive visitors to its platform until it is.

A new, potential way to travel with Uber

Uber Explore, nevertheless of its company status, is in itself, an innovative and revolutionary idea, as now the key to customers’ needs is convenience. The idea can strike gold if done right, and Uber knows it. Currently, there are a few promising benefits that can set the rail for future developments for the app.
