JAAN Restaurant: The quintessence of British cuisine in Singapore

JAAN restaurant, directed by chef Kirk Westaway, creates gourmets’ favorite cuisine in a setting inspired by the natural surroundings of the Southwest of England. Following a three-month renovation, the two-star Michelin restaurant JAAN will reopen by the end of 2022. 

JAAN has evolved into one of Singapore’s most distinctive gastronomic locations over the past 20 years, with a panoramic view of the city and a design area with British elements. This is one of Singapore’s most well-known restaurants, located on the top floor of the historic Swissôtel The Stamford Hotel. The entrance and main dining space both recall exciting stories, so the restaurant’s design is meant to take diners on a multi-sensory journey. The gourmet experience begins when clients are greeted by courteous reception staff in a corridor decorated with artwork by an Australian artist. The artworks are influenced by Chef Kirk’s birth country’s tradition and culture.

Diners will be handed a welcome drink from the bar area adjacent to the carpeted dining area as they go into a more intimate setting. The curving edges of the bar, made of engineered marble, add a modern touch to the restaurant space. The main dining area totally opens up, inviting guests to dine against the stunning backdrop of Singapore’s city and coastline. Diners will be drawn in particular by the floor-to-ceiling lighting system in the center of the space.

JANN’s menu changes seasonally to highlight British cuisine in a modern way, adhering to the “Refreshing British Cuisine” philosophy. Chef Krik draws on a deep appreciation for organic flavors he discovered while growing up in England.
