This pass is nearly 50km long, of which two-thirds are located in Tam Duong District – Lai Chau Province, the remaining section is located in Sa Pa – Lao Cai Province. Passing the gate of Hoang Lien National Park after a few kilometres, you will reach the top of O Quy Ho Pass which is also the boundary between the two northern mountainous provinces of Lao Cai and Lai Chau. The pass winds around the Hoang Lien mountain range – home to Fansipan mountain, otherwise known as the windy roof of Indochina with a height of 3,414m. For a long time, O Quy Ho Pass has been famous not only for its important transit location but also for the most majestic beauty in the Northwest.
SON HO PLATEAU – A UTOPIA OF HAZY CLOUD
Located about 60km from the centre of Lai Chau City and lying at an altitude of over 1,500m, Sin Ho Plateau is considered the second Sa Pa of the Northwestern region. Surrounded by the rolling rocky mountains and an immense primeval forest, Sin Ho Plateau boasts a truly charming beauty with the perfect blend of hazy cloud, winding terraced fields and mountain-side villages. While Fansipan mountain is considered “the roof of Indochina”, Pu Ta Leng is the second-highest peak that many travellers desire to conquer. The best time to visit Pu Ta Leng mountain is from October to March every year. During this time, Lai Chau boasts a jaw-dropping natural beauty with stunning forest flowers and lush greenery.
