On the new route, Mr. Varong Israsena Na Ayudhya – Bangkok Airways’ Vice President – Sales expressed his enthusiasm: “After well-received Bangkok-Danang and Bangkok-Phu Quoc flights launched last year with average load factor of 70%, we see great tourism potential for Vietnam market. Hanoi is the next focus in our roadmap to promote the existence of Bangkok Airways as a unique yet friendly airline to Vietnam and the worldIndeed, the newly-opened route would be a great option for the people of the dynamic and populous capital as well as all global citizens who want to explore another culturally stunning destination after Hanoi, only 2 inflight hours without transfer. This also becomes a diplomatic bridge between the two country cousins in terms of tourism, economics, cultures and society.

On the other hand, Chiang Mai, the largest and most culturally significant city in Northern Thailand, is becoming one of the must-visit destinations. The city has filled by the beauty of the nature, ancient Northern Thai temples and hill tribe villages which make this old charming city attracted by million travelers from all over the world. Bangkok Airways has placed Chiang Mai as a strategic hub to connect with other prominent destinations in both domestic and international routes such as Chiang Mai-Bangkok, Chiang Mai-Samui, Chiang Mai-Phuket, Chiang Mai-Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai-Yangon, Chiang Mai-Nay Pyi Taw, Chiang Mai-Mandalay and now, Chiang Mai-Hanoi.

Our latest research on Vietnamese local travelling patterns and preference reveals that 75% of the respondents are interested in visiting and/or revisiting Chiang Mai. Accordingly, Chiang Mai is favored by Vietnam’s tourists for its beautiful scenery, cultural uniqueness, safety and friendliness, all-year festivals and affordable travelling costs.
